BIO:
Curtis has craved performing and sharing what he knows ever since he experienced the adrenaline rush of a connected audience.
With a background that is Canadian-Greek, African, and Indigenous (Blackfoot and Cherokee), you could say that he emerges from a rich mosaic of storytellers. And then, there’s the fact that he happens to have lived across 3 different continents–4, if you count the Middle East as its own. Nevertheless, the world is his home and he loves the corners he has explored so far. Along this journey, he has developed basic proficiency and refined pronunciation in: Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, French, and Italian. This adventure began once he left his home in small-town Canada to teach students around the world, as soon as he earned his honour’s theatre and bachelor of education degrees.
Almost ten years later, he has taken the opportunities to explore his passions as he has traveled, taught, and won over audiences onstage, in the classroom, and, more recently, through the mic. Meeting a diversification of characters along his adventure, he continually adds to his closet of characters. Mr. Holland pulls out these characters to entertain his students, keeping some of the winning personalities for his imaginative endeavours.
This member of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities is proud to share his spirited, textured, and entertaining voice. On one hand, he loves bringing sarcasm and mischief to Young Adult and Middle-Grade stories; on the other, he loves flirting with stories of horror, thrills, and high tension. Whatever the project may be, it is his ultimate intention to educate and entertain.
In addition to narrating, this playful creative has a strong presence in the community. For social media, he co-moderates a weekly room on Clubhouse, under the AUDIOBOOKS Club; apart from that live voice-catered app, you can find him gracing the stage some call Instagram. He serves on the Professional Audiobook Narrator Association’s (PANA) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.
Curtis has an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama in Education & Community, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Windsor, and Drama Specialist Qualification from Western University. The lifelong learner is expected to have achieved a Master of Education degree with a focus in Verbatim Theatre and Arts-Informed Narrative Inquiry by Summer 2022.
He continues to study with a variety of coaches, taking individual and group voice-over and narration classes online, as well as in-person acting classes. Curtis is here to bring you character-driven audio that is informed, authentic, and of course, entertaining.
You can catch him on the beach with friends, in the booth by himself, or somewhere around the [current] Island he lives on with his partner and their cats and dogs.
